Arrival

You will be met by our professional driver-guide at Entebbe International airport and be driven to Kampala in official Lulu Safari vans. Depending on your arrival time it might be possible to take a city tour in the afternoon. You will check-in at Marie’s Royal Hotel, where you will enjoy dinner and your overnight stay.

Day 1: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park
In the morning you will start your safari by transferring to Kibale Forest National Park, stopping in Fort Portal for lunch. You can stop along the way at local villages and tea plantations to stretch your legs and get a feel for the scenery. You will arrive at your campsite in the evening in an area close to the crater lake bordering Kibale Forest.

Day 2: Kibale National Park
Kibale Forest National Park is a rain forest that is home to over 1500 chimpanzees. During your morning trek you will see our “closest cousins” up close and capture shots of them grooming! Nine other species of monkeys can also be found in the forest, including red colobus, red tailed monkey and bush babies. In the forest canopy you will find beautifully colored butterflies and various bird species like the native great blue turaco, joyful greenbul, olive long tailed cuckoo and the superb black bee eater.
After the trek, we will start the transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Drive south with the Rwenzori Mountain ranges (the longest in Africa) in view, or drive along the crater lakes in the nearby hills. Upon reaching the lodge we will enjoy the impressive view over Queen Elizabeth National Park as prepare the day ahead.- Main Destination:

Day 3: Kazinga Channel
After breakfast we will embark to see Queen Elizabeth’s early risers. You will be exposed to a wide variety animals: elephants, buffalos, lions, leopards (more likely to be spotted in the evening), warthogs, hyenas and many more! After lunch it is time for a park classic: a two hour boat-cruise on the famous Kazinga Channel. This 36km channel links Lake George to Lake Edward. On the banks you can see land and water adapted hippopotamuses yawning and even gnashing their canines at each other. Meanwhie, the Nile crocodile rests in wait on the banks!

Day 4: Ishasha Sector
Today you will transfer through the Ishasha Sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park on the way to Bwindi. In Ishasha we will drive off into the vast savannah area, featuring topis and elephants, to hopefully get a glimpse of the lions high in the fig tree branches.
Continue transferring to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Here you will experience a change in the landscape from flat savanna to cultivated hills to jungle covered mountains. If we arrive early we can go on a walk to visit with people in the nearby community or relax while listening to local performers.- Main Destination:

Day 5: Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Have an early breakfast and then get ready for the big highlight of this safari! Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park is home to mountain gorillas – and you get to meet them today! You will set off into the forest with a special guide and trek through beautiful nature before finally getting to spend one hour in the area where the mountain gorillas are. Besides the gorillas, this Impenetrable Forest is full of birds, butterflies, plant species, forest hogs and elephants.

Day 6: Lake Bunyonyi
Today is a free day for you to relax by the beautiful Lake Bunyonyi. Here is a short list of optional activities: swimming (safe in this lake), hiking on the Bushara trail along the lake shore, or going on a canoe ride (featuring the sounds of exotic birds singing).

Day 7: Lake Mburo National Park
After breakfast you will transfer to Lake Mburo, which is known as the “zebra magnet”. You will arrive in the park and have lunch at the lodge before heading out for an afternoon game drive to view zebras, topis, warthogs, cape buffaloes and impalas.

Day 8: Lake Mburo National Park – Kampala
Get up early for a morning safari walk, during which you’ll have the chance to see leopards, zebras, waterbucks and bird buffalos at daybreak! You will also pay a visit to a hyena’s den. Return for breakfast and then make your way back to Kampala, stopping for lunch in Masaka and at the equator.

Day 9: Mabamba Swamp
Your guide will pick you up in the morning for your visit to Mabamba Swamp, which sits a bit south of Entebbe. If you are lucky we might see some interesting birds along the way. When we reach the swamp we will go out in small boats to search for the rare shoebill stork, lesser jacana, marsh harriers, African pygmy-goose, whistling ducks and, if it is the right season, the blue swallow, blue breasted bee eater and many other aquatic birds. You will return to Entebbe after the tour.

Day: 10 Entebbe
Entebbe
This is the last day of your safari. After breakfast you can relax and enjoy Entebbe as a cool breeze from Lake Victoria washes over you before we transfer you to the airport.
